Mechanical Crochet

Its not as scary as it sounds! Most of my crafting is inspired by things that I can find in the shops for Harry. For his 3rd birthday I wanted to get a robot based toy - he likes a robot. I could not find a stuffed robot for love nor money so once again out came the (Crochet) needles and the yarn and George the Robot was born. (Harry named him not me.)

Life is a beach....

My recent trips to the seaside have inspired a whole range of crochet blankets. My current favourites are the striped "deckchair" bedspreads, large enough to throw over a bed, use as a picnic rug, or snuggle on the sofa after a busy day building sandcastles!

Blankets can be made in any colour and size. Prices will vary. Blankets are made from a mix of man made and natural fibres.

Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside.....

This weekend we went to visit my parents at their new home in beautiful Dorset. Despite the rather gloomy weather we had to visit the beach and build a sand castle. In my book, this calls for a new woolly hat!

Harry is very particular about which hat he will wear (like all 3 year olds), he doesn't like the wind in his ears but equally doesn't like ear flaps! So the answer is a big over sized stretchy beany. I have searched high and low for one that isn't too big, too small, scratchy, branded etc. so out came the needles and yarn and Voila!

My first ever blog......

So, I have finally succumbed and started a blog. I'm a Textiles teacher in a secondary school, a mum to 3 year old Harry, a wife to my Husband and Emily Smiles in between!

As my blog name might suggest I am a Jack of All Trades: knitting, crochet, sewing, decoupage (a new love), patchwork, quilting etc.... For as long as I can remember I have had some sort of sharp implement (needles, pins, scissors, scalpels) in my hand under the rouse of the Craft! Literally every spare moment is filled with making things, looking at fabrics, reading craft books and designing. So much so that the Husband has already threatened divorce if I buy any more yarn.....little does he know I hide it in the boot of the car for at least two weeks after purchase and then pretend its old stuff I just found under the bed.

Im incredibly lucky that I get to spend my days teaching other people to love the Craft, however teenage boys aren't often the most receptive of audiences. I'm sure they think I'm an old lady trapped in the body of a 30 year old!

This blog is really a way to empty my mind of all things craft related, showcase some of my bits and pieces and generally show the world what I have been up to....

Once I have worked out how to upload photos, I will! So watch this space....
